This series of self-portraits was shot in my home studio with a Hasselblad and Profoto lighting. It captures a raw moment of my personal transformation.
My journey has long been defined by a relentless, often crippling pursuit of perfection - especially in the digital editing process. The emergence of perfect, soulless AI imagery forced me to confront a crisis of purpose. I was chasing a mirage while neglecting the unique power of the visceral, human artistic process.
Now, during a challenging period of navigating difficult economical and political circumstances, I have made a deliberate choice: to return to my roots and embrace imperfection as a source of strength. These gold butterflies are not just ornamentation - they symbolize the gilded thoughts, hopes, and moments of unyielding value that are emerging from a period of great stillness. I am learning to find value not in the absolute absence of shadow, but in the deliberate acts of creating light within them.
This project is a documentation of a return to the tactile, raw, and resilient core of my craft, transforming vulnerability into resilience.
